Open Letter.

Dear Mr. Robertson,

I caught a segment on the news of your statements earlier tonight. I don't even know where to begin. You are a jerk. Your views on the Christianity I know are skewed... flawed... ignorant. How dare you call the earthquake a blessing in disguise when thousands are buried under the rubble crying for help. The earthquake will never be a blessing. Thousands of people will have perished. Families torn apart. Lives ruined. Yes, there can be some good that comes out of a tragedy, but the event still remains a tragedy.

Try explaining to a young mother that "actually, your 3 children's deaths in the collapse of their school is a blessing. Haiti can now rebuild/start from scratch and finally get a decent footing in the world." I bet she would rather watch her babies grow up, than watch new buildings erected where flimsy ones once stood. Where is your Christ-like compassion.

James 1:27 implores us to look after the orphan, widow, the poor... the "least" of these. I would say that in a nation where 60% of the population lives in abject poverty and where widows and orphans will unfortunately be in the thousands certainly qualifies as the "least of these".

Instead of condeming, do exactly what your Father commands you to do. Protect the least of these. Cover them in prayer. Love them. They could really use it about now don't you think? You should be ashamed of your self. I know your mother would be. Lucky you, who didn't lose your mother in a 7.0 earthquake at 4 years old in a nation ill-equipped to help you or her in any way shape or form.

Sincerely,
Future House Queen
